EPSHRM Awards Scholarships

In 2005, the El Paso Society for Human Resource Management (EPSHRM) established a scholarship program to help defray the cost of higher education for either the child of a member (known as the Sons and Daughters Scholarship), an active member of the student SHRM Chapter at UTEP, and an active EPSHRM member attending school (Bachelor or Master’s program) each worth $500. In 2014, EPSHRM added two categories to the scholarship program to help HR professionals who wish to advance their HR careers by obtaining HR Certification through HRCI or SHRM each worth $250. EPSHRM awarded five scholarships during the Annual Kickoff event to: Alexander Camacho, Paloma Ulloa, Anna Mae Roberts, Mariana Corral, and Sandra Morales.

EPSHRM Partnered with Centurion Military Alliance

On February 4, 2016, the El Paso Society for Human Resources "EPSHRM" partnered with the Centurion Military Alliance "CMA", to help facilitate a program to help military personnel and spouses transition in to the civilian workforce. EPSHRM volunteers offered their time to help conduct mock-interviews and resume review to our community military and spouses. In doing this we also offered the participants a path to help them improve their interviewing technique, help demilitarize their resume, career coach advice and help guide them in a path that will allow them to identifying a career path that would best compliment their skill sets, core competencies, professional experience and credentials. The workshop was very well received and because of this success, CMA has already scheduled a second workshop in May 2016 for our community warriors.
