PBSHRM wants to acknowledge what a great group of HR professionals and business leaders we have in the Permian Basin! The PBSHRM annual HR summit included top-notch speakers, a great venue, terrific food, and fabulous sponsors and advertising. The PBSHRM Board of Directors and PBSHRM volunteers pulled together an amazing summit this year, and this is in addition to their regular (paying) jobs!
Our PBSHRM network includes HR professionals and business leaders who took the time to educate, equip and inspire each other, and to prepare for the challenges that lie ahead at the PBSHRM annual HR summit on September 8. Attendance reflected PBSHRM’s core group of about 50 dedicated HR professionals from the Midland and Odessa area. Our day started with updates from one of PBSHRM’s past president's, Robert Segura, assistant state director from Texas SHRM; and TX SHRM’s state director, Mike Kahn, regarding HRSW happenings; plus Bobby Burns, president of the Midland Chamber of Commerce with a "State of the City" address.
Next, we got "FIRED UP!" with Aric Bostick motivating us with his genuine spirit of enthusiasm for life and being "where your feet are" — being consciously engaged with who and what in the moment and what it means to be the "first follower."
Bonnie Cox spoke on strategic communication — how to get a seat at the C-suite table, and the value in back pocket and hallway conversations. Bonnie also discussed "Changing the HR Mindset" — understanding and talking the "suite" talk.
Mike Kahn capped off the day with a topic on all our minds in the Permian Basin: "knowledge transfer" and how to keep the valuable knowledge you invest in.
All our attendees were completely engaged and love the energy of the day! They even had the opportunity to earn up to 6.5 CEU credits toward their SHRM and HRCI certifications.
This summit was great! Thanks to all the hard work of each and every board member, volunteer, speaker, and sponsor. All went above and beyond to make this an outstanding event. Of course, all would have been for nothing if not for our AWESOME attendees. Thank you all!
