SHRM A-Team Call to Action: Contact Your Representative to Help Block Harmful Federal Contractor Amendment

Print Print this Article | Send to Colleague

Call to Action: Please place a call or send an email to your representative to help block an anticipated federal contractor FLSA "blacklisting" amendment before upcoming House of Representatives votes this week. Last year, Representative Keith Ellison (D-MN) offered an amendment opposed by SHRM that would debar and blacklist federal contractors with any Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) violations from the last five years. Unfortunately, this amendment is expected to receive a vote again this week as the House begins consideration of Fiscal Year 2016 appropriations bills.

SHRM needs your help in asking House members to "Vote 'NO' on any amendments to appropriations bills that would blacklist federal contractors with even a single FLSA violation." SHRM's HR Policy Action Center will lead you through the easy steps to contact your lawmaker and make a difference. Your personal call or email will help your representative understand how this amendment would hurt employers and employees as it comes to the House for a vote.

Thank you in advance for taking action on this critical HR issue.
