I love spring! The newness of plant life emerging everywhere and even the exciting weather changes! I love spring because I love rain! I also love spring because it puts a newness in my step and helps me spring into action on various projects.
Over the last two months, I have had the pleasure to hear from several of you in Texas, and it has truly been a joy getting to know you, your State Council and Chapter volunteers. Please continue to reach out to me if I can be of assistance.
As you may know, one of the primary objectives every year while serving as your MAC Rep is to collect your feedback and share it with the SHRM Board of Directors. Our first meeting will be next month with the SHRM Board of Directors at the SHRM headquarters in Washington D.C.
One way we express your opinions as a volunteer in Texas is to collect it through our MAC survey.
After analyzing our membership numbers in the SWC Region, it became evident we have a need. That need is to focus on why our members are leaving local chapters, yet staying with SHRM as at-large members. Did you know that more than 50 percent of our chapters in the SWC Region saw a decrease in chapter membership in 2014? One chapter in particular saw more than a 40 percent reduction in members!
After analyzing this data, we agreed that, as your MAC Team, one of our primary focuses this year will be to identify the need of State Councils and Chapters and the impact of declining chapter members. After you respond to our survey, we plan to provide the collective information to the SHRM Board so we can work together on a resolution.
As a MAC team, we have created a survey that we would like to have your State Council and Chapter volunteers complete. I would personally like to invite each of you to complete our brief eight question survey!
