Rio Grande Valley

SHRM Rio Grande Valley held their Annual Meeting on October 30, 2013 at the Cimarron Country Club in Mission, Texas. More than 50 chapter members were in attendance as well as many guests.  Members were presented with a Certificate of Appreciation for their 2013 membership as well as a paid luncheon.

 

We were honored to have Debi Dault, SHRM Texas State Council Governor as our guest speaker presenting on the benefits of joining SHRM both on the National and Local level. Debi informed the members of newly added member benefits provided by SHRM which included additional means to obtain PHR, SPHR, GPHR recertification credits, as well as the newly created HRMP/HRBP certification.

 

Members were given a brief review of SHRM Rio Grande Valley chapter activities, 2013 Member Survey Results, and Treasurer's Report. A motion was made and seconded to ratify proposed bylaws approved by SHRM National. Elections were held for the 2014 Slate of Officers. Results are as follows:

 

·         Debbie Bocanegra, President

·         Leo Vargas, President-Elect

·         Daisy Castillo, Treasurer

·         Jolee Perez, Chapter Advisor

 

The meeting was closed with door prize giveaways donated by City of McAllen Library, Courtyard by Marriott, Dulces Famosos de Mexico, Express Employment Professionals, Schlitterbahn, SHRM Rio Grande Valley, South Texas College, Spherion, Sylvan Learning Center, Tilted Kilt Pub & Eatery, and the University of Texas Pan American Continuing Education.
