As a SHRM member, I find it very rewarding to be able to access pertinent information from the SHRM website and receive valuable updates that could possibly affect the employees and/or organization I represent, as well as me personally. I would like to use this time to remind each one of you to recognize the importance of being a SHRM member and to not only rely on your company to support your annual commitment, but to understand you have a vested interest as well. I have encountered several HR professionals that let their membership lapse because their company refused to pay for it. That’s where we as HR professionals should step up to the plate and let our employers know that we value our profession enough to make an investment into our career and pay our annual dues.

As we grow our SHRM members, it benefits our chapters as well as our state council by providing additional financial support to help promote programs and develop people. Over the last few months, we have made great strides in increasing membership so let’s keep it going and show the rest of SHRM how Texas does things bigger and better.
