Tenth Anniversary of SSPC Protective Coating Inspector (PCI) Training in Indonesia

On Oct. 21, 2018, almost 200 SSPC members, certified inspectors, instructors and SSPC staff celebrated the 10th anniversary of the first Protective Coating Inspector training in Indonesia.

The event commemorated the extraordinary efforts of the SSPC members who helped establish the PCI certification in Indonesia and Singapore. The attendees honored the efforts of Alex Wijaya and Abdul Rashid, both now deceased, who championed the program from the beginning. After the first few classes, our current instructors, Muniandi Dewadas, Bani Quim, (SBM Offshore), Patrick Tan (In-Spec Corporation, Pte Ltd) and Kevin Yeo (Arkco Thailand) became the core group supporting the training initiative.

The event, sponsored by International Paint, was held at the Harmony Hotel with events conducted both in and outdoors. A master of ceremonies conducted the festivities which included games, entertainment and contests. Each attendee received a commemorative shirt from the sponsors. Eric Piotrowski, SSPC Business Development Specialist, handed out certification documentation to the latest class of PCI recipients.

SSPC is very grateful to our wonderful volunteers for their contributions to SSPC. The efforts of this dedicated group have resulted in more than 350 individuals with current PCI Level 1, 2 and 3 certifications in this area.
