TTP 2018 in Review

When SSPC launched The Trainthepainter (TTP) Program, the goal was to elevate the industry through safer, more effective and efficient training. In our second year since the launch, we have taught 74 trainers in 20+ companies throughout seven different countries. We are encouraging and promoting health and safety, employee motivation and job satisfaction, and safer and smarter work habits – ultimately affecting the bottom line of contractors. It truly is a win-win across the board.

Additionally, the SSPC team has made strides throughout Vocational Technical schools in order to expose the younger generation to this industry through TTP. Education of the workforce is important, but it is equally important to show those getting ready to start careers about the family-sustaining wages, and career opportunities in this industry. Trainthepainter serves as the first stepping stone on a student’s career pathway.

Whether you are just beginning, or are a seasoned veteran of this industry, Trainthepainter provides fuel for both sides to better themselves in the crafts of abrasive blasting and industrial painting. The program not only motivates students to learn how to properly perform the skills, but explains why they are doing what they do day-in and day-out. Thus, providing a deeper understanding and better appreciation for their work. Many don’t realize how important “just paint” truly is. SSPC does, and the TTP program is just the start of that.

With initiatives heavy in North, Central, and South America, as well as Saudi Arabia, 2019 is shaping up to be a continued push towards advancing the protective coatings industry, one craftworker at a time.
