Below are just a few key highlights of recent SSPC member activity in the Asia Pacific region.

Asia-Pacific Advisory Council
The Asia-Pacific Advisory Council has been re-organized. Elections were held in November and new council officers will be announced at (or prior to) SSPC Coatings+ 2020. SSPC looks forward to increased success for our members in the APAC region and to working with the newly engaged Council.

China
The SSPC China Chapter held another very successful Technical Corrosion Conference in November with more than 300 attendees, including local government officials as well as major industry players. The conference featured 50 technical speakers, 18 exhibitors, and 11 major sponsors that supported the event.

During the conference a collaborative agreement was signed between Jotun and the SSPC China Chapter.

The popularity of SSPC programs is also increasing in China, especially Trainthepainter (TTP) and SSCP QP.  At the conference, SSPC’s Eric Piotrowski delivered a Trainthetrainer (TTT) session, and an educational session focusing on QP was delivered to a group of more than 20 participants.

Thailand
In Thailand, two additional host facilities were approved for C7, C12 and Trainthepainter (TTP) training where they’re working to approve local trainers.

Malaysia
In Malaysia, SSPC & IMM has six locations approved and running C7 and C12 for the Petronas and Malaysia markets. The SSPC Malaysia Chapter hosted a meeting with guest speaker David Hunter in December. In addition, they elected new officers, planned their next meeting for Q1 2020, and discussed additional activities, including attending OTC Asia in March 2020, as well as a collaborative conference with IMM later in 2020.

Singapore
The SSPC Concrete Coating Applicator Specialist (CCAS) training program is garnering interest in Singapore, with courses being scheduled for delivery in Q1 2020.

Philippines
SSPC is working with the Philippines Chapter to deliver C7 and C12 to a large contractor group in early 2020. They are also in the process of identifying and approving a permanent training host facility as well as local trainers. The chapter is also working on scheduling a meeting for Q1 2020.
