SPFA News and Announcements
SPFA has announced a partnership with Cal Beyer, CWP and CSDZ to provide key education and resources to both spray foam and construction industry participants on suicide and substance abuse prevention. Fueled in part by ongoing stressors including the pandemic, as well as the Center for Disease Control’s (CDC) assessment of the construction industry having the second highest rate of suicide in the United States at 53.3 per 100,000 workers, the SPFA Board of Directors initiated its campaign to assist the industry. As part of the program, the SPFA on November 18 will host an informative webinar led by Cal Beyer, which will be accessible at no cost to all in the construction industry.
Cal Beyer, CWP is Vice President of Workforce Risk and Worker Wellbeing for CSDZ, a Holmes Murphy Company. Cal was instrumental in the launch of the Construction Industry Alliance for Suicide Prevention. He serves on the Executive Committee for the National Action Alliance for Suicide Prevention and the Expert Advisory Group for the Center for Workplace Mental Health.
On November 18 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. eastern, Beyer will deliver a one-hour webinar entitled "Shining Light on Mental Health & Suicide Prevention.” The live webinar is open to all construction industry members and will be recorded and made easily accessible for later viewing. The webinar is part of the SPFA’s larger campaign providing key resources and information to help prevent suicide and substance abuse within the industry.
To access the SPFA’s full resources on suicide and substance abuse prevention, which includes statistics, supportive organizations, articles, tool box talks, national hotline information and much more, visit www.sprayfoam.org/content.asp?admin=Y&contentid=400.

SPFA has extended the Attendee Registration Early Bird Discount until Friday, October 15, 2021! Some have asked why is it being extended? The Early Bird Discount is new for 2022.  Like many things that are new, people aren’t used to it and didn’t realize what it was. We want more folks to have the opportunity to participate. The ‘new’ SPFA is here to serve SPF professionals and we are trying new ways to do so!

Industry News and Announcements
NRCA recently sent a letter to the Biden administration to explain the immediate need for a comprehensive federal approach to address devastating supply chain shortages of materials that began during the COVID-19 pandemic and have been greatly exacerbated by natural disasters—most recently Hurricane Ida.

As supply chain disruptions and material pricing volatility continue to rattle the construction industry, the timeline for when contractors might see a return to normalcy has only grown murkier.

No-Burn, Inc.
As part of the Biden-Harris administration’s interagency effort and commitment to workplace safety, climate resilience, and environmental justice, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) is initiating enhanced measures to protect workers better in hot environments and reduce the dangers of exposure to ambient heat. To emphasize its concern and take necessary action, OSHA is implementing an enforcement initiative on heat-related hazards, developing a National Emphasis Program on heat inspections, and launching a rulemaking process to develop a workplace heat standard. In addition, the agency is forming a National Advisory Committee on Occupational Safety and Health Heat Injury and Illness Prevention Work Group to provide better understanding of challenges and to identify and share best practices to protect workers.

The updated guidance reflects developments in science and data, including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's updated Covid-19 guidance.

San Antonio Riverwalk
889 East Market Street – San Antonio, TX

The room block we have at the Marriott Riverwalk Hotel in San Antonio is filling up!  Be sure to make your reservation soon to ensure you get into the Headquarter Hotel at the discounted rate.  Please note, we are holding a few rooms on the weekend nights before and after our convention for those that want to extend their stay. If you are arriving early or staying late and get a notice while making hotel reservations that the hotel is sold out, don’t panic yet – contact kmarcavage@sprayfoam.org.  When we are this early in the hotel reservation process, chances are you got this notice because one of the shoulder dates is filled and we can make adjustments based on hotel availability.  This is why you should act NOW – we may be able to tweak the block now, it is much harder to do closer to our convention.

Please note: The hotel will be offering the SPFA discounted rate until February 7, 2022 or until our room block sells out. Historically the rooms in the Headquarter Hotel fill quickly, so please make your reservation soon!

SPFA Job Board
SPFA is doing its part to bring awareness of open positions in the industry to our members, partners, and untapped talent pools. For every one of these positions going unfilled it’s an opportunity missed, an extra staffing challenge drawing attention away from other important priorities, or a customer perhaps needing to wait longer than they should have to.
