SPFA News and Announcements

After a recent site trip to San Antonio, it became clear that the SprayFoam 2022 logo should depict the local flavor of San Antonio. After some deliberation and input from our designer, Linda Rapp, the Conference Planning Committee agreed that this new logo meets our goals. Plans are underway and you’ll see more details later this month. We hope to see you all in San Antonio! As you plan your trip, we encourage you to spend some extra time and take in the sites, enjoy the Riverwalk, and appreciate the fact that we’ve moved on from the challenges of the past year!

In case you missed the June 8 Contractor Webinar, SPFA members have another chance! For a limited time, this recorded webinar will be available through the SPFA website here. You need to login as a current SPFA member to access this webinar recording.

The June 8th webinar, entitled “SPFA Update on New Policies from Washington, DC,” was presented by Craig Brightup of The Brightup Group LLC.  With the Biden Administration and 117th Congress hitting the six-month mark, Craig presented the latest on COVID relief, an infrastructure and energy-efficiency package, and other important developments that include regulatory changes from OSHA.  This is a must-view for SPF contractors.

The expansion of Huntsman Building Solutions’ Arlington site brings it to over 800,000 square feet, encompassing three adjacent structures. The expansion effort has enabled the company to integrate domestic manufacturing of all of its products – spray foam insulation, spray foam roofing, pour-in-place foams and coatings – onto one US campus. All facilities and operations within the campus also employ the best in Huntsman Corporation’s safety designs and processes.

Health & Safety
June 2021 has been declared “Trench Safety Month” by the National Utility Contractors Association (NUCA), further highlighting its educational and safety program, the annual “Trench Safety Stand Down” week to be held between June 14-18. TSSD Week is a series of organized events held by NUCA and industry professionals – both member and non-member organizations – to emphasize the message of safety around jobsite trenches and excavations.

Check out the new on-demand webinar from the American Chemistry Council’s Diisocyanates Panel and Aliphatic Diisocyanates Panel that provides an introduction and basic overview of the available science concerning sensitization and diisocyanate-related occupational asthma.
Speakers include Dr. Ines Krueger of Covestro, Dr. Cynthia Graham of Huntsman and Mr. Mark Spence of the International Isocyanate Institute. The webinar addresses topics such as what is sensitization, what is “work-related” asthma, how does diisocyanate exposure relate to respiratory sensitization, how do doctors diagnose “work-related asthma,” and why are medical surveillance programs important? The intended audience for this webinar includes value chain stakeholders that are involved in product safety interactions, as well as occupational health and safety professionals who may field questions related to the sensitization potential of diisocyanates.
This webinar counts as 1-hour of continuing education credit for SPFA's PCP Certification Program. This resource has been added to the Health and Safety page on the new SPFA website for future reference.

Our Professional Certification Program (PCP) has developed a logo that incorporates the image of the “new” SPFA. The official rollout will be in early 2022 when next year’s certification and accreditation credentials are renewed. We will be incorporating this new logo and the new Accreditation Marks in documents over the next several months so you will see both of them for a while. We didn’t want you to be confused as we go through this rollout.

SPFA Job Board
SPFA is doing its part to bring awareness of open positions in the industry to our members, partners, and untapped talent pools. For every one of these positions going unfilled it’s an opportunity missed, an extra staffing challenge drawing attention away from other important priorities, or a customer perhaps needing to wait longer than they should have to.
