Attention SPF Roofers! The April 3-4, 2019 National Roofing Day in DC, hosted by the National Roofing Contractors Association (NRCA) is almost upon us. This second annual event is inclusive of all roofing technologies and focuses on the things that are mutually important to your business from a policy perspective. A rising tide lifts all boats, as they say, and this event focuses upon the tide influenceable by policy efforts when everyone can come together on them. For this reason SPFA is again a sponsoring partner of the event, and invitation is extended to each of you to come to DC and participate. You don’t need to be a “policy person” to make this worth it – just be a business constituent in a Congressional district that has an interest in making your industry better.

The American Chemistry Council’s Spray Foam Coalition (SFC), the Spray Polyurethane Foam Alliance (SPFA) and the National Pest Management Association (NPMA) have announced a cooperative effort aimed at developing innovative solutions to help prevent subterranean termites from entering homes. Together, the three organizations will foster ideas that marry both the benefits of spray foam insulation, including overall thermal efficiency and energy savings, with the need for pest management companies to visually inspect crawl spaces for subterranean termites throughout the home.

SPF-Related Codes & Standards
ASTM International has, under the leadership of SPFA's Dr. Duncan, SPFA members and SPF industry professionals, announced the completion and approval of a new standard entitled Standard Practice for Installation of High-Pressure Spray Polyurethane Foam Insulation for the Building Enclosure. This practice covers the installation of high-pressure spray polyurethane foam (SPF) as an insulation for building enclosure assemblies including: walls, ceilings, attics, floors and crawl spaces. This practice does not apply to SPF used strictly as a component for an air barrier system or for SPF used in roofing applications. The Standard can be purchased by ASTM here. If you have any questions please direct them to Dr. Duncan.
