SPFA Members Participate with Broader Roofing Industry During Washington DC Fly-In (Mar 2018)

The National Roofing Contractor Association (NRCA) recently hosted the annual Roofing Industry Policy Fly-In in Washington, DC. SPFA was one of the leading sponsors of the event. With a number of SPFA contractor and manufacturing members participating, the roofing industry convened for briefings from Mick Mulvaney, Director of Office of Management and Budget (OMB) for the United States; Senator Ron Johnson (Wis), Chairman of the Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs; Reid Ribble, CEO of NRCA and former Congressman; and an orientation covering best practices for Capitol Hill visits.

Participants focused their Hill visits upon issues of importance across all roofing technologies: Immigration reform being vital to the future of the roofing industry, workforce development, and appropriate regulatory reform (in the context of the Regulatory Accountability Act).

Several hundred roofing professionals and association members blanketed the House and Senate office buildings to meet with their representatives, and this event was billed as one of the most diverse and successful fly-in advocacy events in the history of the roofing industry.
