Date: Wednesday, June 12, 2:00–3:30 p.m. EDT
Speaker: Dr. Frank Farshidi, Division Manager of Pavement Maintenance, San Jose DOT

Asphalt rubber differs from other recycled tire rubber-modified asphalts by using coarse pieces of recycled tire rubber at higher contents (by weight) to create a rut-resistant yet flexible asphalt binder. It is commonly used in conjunction with a gap-graded aggregate structure to produce a fatigue-resistant layer that can help reduce needed pavement structural thickness.

Key Takeaways:

Learn how asphalt rubber is made.
Hear best practices for handling asphalt rubber at a plant.
Understand the basics of conducting quality control on asphalt rubber and asphalt rubber-modified mixtures.
