Where the Rubber Meets the Road Webinar Series: Recycled Tire Rubber and Modern Asphalt Pavements — Episode 2: Recycled Tire Rubber and Modern Asphalt Pavements
Date: Wednesday, May 29, 2:00–3:30 p.m. EDT
Speakers: TBD

There are many ways to modify asphalt binders and mixtures with recycled tire rubber (RTR); however, each method requires contractors to focus on different operations to ensure that a quality mixture is produced and placed. The “dry process” treats RTR similar to how an aggregate or other recycled material is treated by feeding it directly into the drum at a plant. While this process is not as prevalent as some other methods of blending RTR into asphalt mixtures, agencies such as the Georgia Department of Transportation and Illinois Tollway have opened specifications allow use of the dry process economically.

Key Takeaways:

Understand the science behind the new dry process for RTR compared to older versions of the product.
Hear how using this process impacted a contractor’s operations.
See how dry process rubber can impact material properties and performance.
