SCAPA’s Executive Director Ashley Batson presented to a group of Midlands guidance counselors and career specialists at the April Networking Event hosted by the Midlands Education and Business Alliance (MEBA). Approximately 50-60 educators attended the event.

Batson’s presentation centered on career opportunities available in the asphalt industry and highlighted SCAPA’s Asphalt Works! campaign.

SCAPA’s next goal is to connect school leadership with its members to establish a relationship between the schools and asphalt contractors throughout South Carolina.

It plans to host an educational seminar on May 1 for SCAPA members so that they may learn how to use the tools developed for the Asphalt Works! campaign to recruit and hire both existing and future workers.

Lisa Call, Regional Career Specialist & Senior Director of Education and Business Engagement for MEBA, will be present to discuss additional opportunities for SCAPA members to connect with MEBA and similar organizations across South Carolina.
