In November, the Southeastern User/Producer Group (SEAUPG) held its 2017 Annual Meeting in Jacksonville, Florida at the Omni Jacksonville. The three-day event included technical sessions on all topics that currently affect the asphalt industry. SEAUPG's membership includes engineers from state DOTs, state asphalt pavement association representatives, contractors, and suppliers. SCAPA had representatives from member companies Lane Construction and CR Jackson. Many SCAPA associate members were in attendance and also exhibited in the SEAUPG trade show.

SCAPA also sent Technical Director Jayson Jordan, PE to participate in the meeting. Jordan presented at the conference; he discussed marketing asphalt design tools and described SCAPA's experience with PaveXpress and PerRoad.

In addition, SEAUPG has a very large footprint with its member states ranging from Texas all the way to Virginia. The group divides the 14 states into three subgroups: West, Central and East.

The conference's eight sessions covered updates from various regions, interesting projects from the past few years, recycled materials, binders, aggregate, construction, alternative solutions, and mix design. South Carolina DOT Asphalt Materials Manager Cliff Selkinghaus provided the East Subgroup (SC, NC, VA, WV) update.

SCAPA and its members are looking forward to next year's SEAUPG annual meeting in North Carolina.
