After three years of debate, House Bill 4033, the Workzone Safety bill, passed the Senate last week and is now on the way to the Governor’s office for signature. This bill provides for increased penalties for speeding in a highway work zone. The money raised from the penalties will go to fund more highway patrolmen on road construction projects.
Thanks to all of our members who attended the SCAPA Legislative Day this year and to all those who reached out to their elected officials and encouraged them to vote for this bill.
We are hopeful that this will improve safety in the highway work zones!
