Senate Debates Road Funding Bill!

On Wednesday, February 17th, the SC Senate began debating H. 3569, the road funding bill. The Senate is debating an amendment proffered by Senator Joel Lourie (D-Richland) and Senator Ray Cleary (R-Georgetown).
The amendment would do the following:
1) Increase funding to SCDOT in the amount of $722 million by its fifth year, through a combination of fee and tax increases
2) Provide for $400 million in through a series of income tax reductions and tax credits
3) Reform SCDOT and the State Infrastructure Bank
Senator Tom Davis (R-Beaufort) held the floor in opposition to the road funding bill as of Wednesday afternoon.
