Member Spotlight: C.R. Jackson, Inc.

C.R. Jackson Inc. was founded in 1972 with a focus on land clearing, grading and utilities. After 43 years, C.R. Jackson, Inc. has grown into a leader in the site development and highway-heavy industries of South Carolina. They have between 150-200 employees at any given time of the year.


C.R. Jackson services central and eastern South Carolina, spanning 20 counties. They have asphalt plants located in Columbia, Conway, Florence, Jefferson and Sumter Counties and focus on highway-heavy, asphalt manufacturing, site development and design-build construction. 


C.R. Jackson, Inc. is capable of managing and self-performing all work necessary to meet South Carolina’s infrastructure needs. This ability paired with their team of knowledgeable and talented employees, makes C.R. Jackson, Inc. a preferred contractor for turnkey projects of all sizes. Another one of the key components of the company’s success has been the ability to hire and retain an expert workforce. On average, C.R. Jackson, Inc.’s field superintendents have worked with the company for 11 years. At the project manager level, the average length of employment increases to 17 years.


In 2013, C.R. Jackson completed a large Federal Aid Intersection Safety Design-Build Project with 13 projects under one contract in SCDOT Districts 1 and 7. Its successful completion highlights the skill and competency of the C.R. Jackson team, as their forces were responsible for design, permitting, right of way acquisition, utility relocation coordination, land clearing and asphalt paving for all 13 projects in a condensed timeline. The project required the expertise of every facet of their operational team, and it was completed with no lost-time incidents and no construction-related accidents. For their work, C.R. Jackson was awarded a Carolinas AGC Pinnacle Award for Best Highway Project in 2013. 


Additionally, C.R. Jackson received a 2013 National Asphalt Pavement Association Quality in Asphalt Paving Award for I-95 in Santee, SC; (2) 2011 National Asphalt Pavement Association Quality in Asphalt Paving Awards for I-20 Westbound and I-20 Eastbound in Lexington, SC; and a 2010 SC Asphalt Pavement Association Quality Pavement Award for Beltline Boulevard in Columbia, SC.
