CPHR Saskatchewan: Weekly Newsletter
Association News
On behalf of the CPHR Saskatchewan Board of Directors and Staff, we wish you a safe and enjoyable Holiday Season, and all the best in 2021! The CPHR Saskatchewan office will close Dec. 24, 2020, and will reopen Jan. 4, 2021.
Well, one thing we can all agree on is that 2020 has been like no other! CPHR Saskatchewan's CEO/Registrar Nicole Norton Scott takes a moment to reflect on the past year for the organization.
On Dec. 9, 2020, the Government of Saskatchewan introduced the Saskatchewan Human Resources Profession Act for first reading. Once passed, the Act will establish the CPHR as a self-regulating body. This is the first step in the legislative process, and a very important milestone for CPHR Saskatchewan to achieve self-regulation.
Mark your calendars for CPHR Saskatchewan's upcoming virtual Conference March 23 and 24, 2021. Stay tuned for more information.
On behalf of CPHR Saskatchewan, congratulations to the newest professional CPHR designation holders and the newest CPHR candidates who passed the National Knowledge Exam in October 2020. To view the full list of CPHRs and CPHR Candidates, click the link below.
With holiday season upon us, some of our traditions and celebrations need to change. The same is true for birthdays, anniversaries, special events and social gatherings. How are you finding different ways to celebrate? How is your office addressing these changes? What are you doing differently? We want to hear from you! This year, CPHR Saskatchewan celebrates its 15th anniversary. We’re asking members to celebrate by sharing their stories with a video!

The end of 2020 is just around the corner — a reminder for all CPHRs:

  • Annual 2020 CPD  (Jan. 1 - Dec. 31, 2020) must be entered by Jan. 15, 2021 to avoid a $50 late fee.
  • There is a minimum requirement of 10 CPD hours annually and a minimum of 60 CPD hours and two categories during a three-year rolling period. Keep in mind that 10 CPD hours per year is not going to get the required 60 CPD hours in the three-year rolling calendar.
  • There is no final "submit" button to hit once you are done entering all your hours for the year.
  • Complete the declaration once you are done entering hours for the year. This can be found in the menu to the left of your name, or on the Dashboard under "Enter Hours".
  • For some of you, this is your second year of the three-year rolling calendar and entering CPD hours online.
  • For those that received the designation in 2019, this will be your first time entering, and for those that received the designation in 2020, you do not need to submit CPD until 2021.
  • In the event you are audited, keep track of the documentation to verify the hours entered into the Online Reporting System.
  • On the Dashboard, only your last four entries will show. To view all entries, click on "View Full History." If you are running reports for certain time periods, remember to adjust the start and end dates accordingly.

Information regarding the CPD requirements, the online reporting system and the webinar recording can be found here.

Information regarding leave of absence can be found here. Specific dates outlining the leave must be included in the letter from the employer.

If you are not submitting your CPD hours, please send an email notifying Holly Guran, Professional Standards Manager, at hguran@cphrsk.ca as this will impact your CPHR professional designation.

Monthly email reminders will be sent to CPHRs regarding 2020 CPD hours. If you are not receiving them, please check your profile on our website to ensure we have the correct email address. If you have entered your hours and completed the declaration for 2020, please disregard future communications.

After reviewing all the information, if you have questions, please contact Holly Guran, Professional Standards Manager at hguran@cphrsk.ca. Please see holiday schedule below. After Dec. 18, please contact Nicole Norton Scott.

Upcoming Holidays: Out of Office
Holly Guran: Dec. 18, 2020 - Jan. 4, 2021
Nicole Norton Scott: Dec. 23, 2020 - Jan. 4, 2021
The office will be closed Dec. 24, 2020 - Jan. 4, 2021

CPHR Saskatchewan is excited to announce new national requirements to the Validation of Experience (VOE) Assessment effective June 30, 2020.

CPHR candidates will be required to have human resources experience at the Foundational and Applied levels, and demonstrate proficiency and competency at the Applied HR level in 12 of the 44 competencies within the nine Knowledge Areas and three of the five Enabling Competencies.

For complete details on the experience requirement, please visit the website and review the Validation of Experience Handbook. A webinar is also available that highlights the requirements and how to complete the VOE application. To view, click here.

The next VOE intake deadline is Dec. 31, 2020. The complete application package must be submitted by that date. If the application is incomplete, it will be returned. It is recommended to submit by Dec. 14 so your application can be reviewed in advance. This gives you time to provide any missing information prior to the deadline.
