About Us

Haven Family Connections (HFC) mission: "Through preventative respite and active intervention, we work together to strengthen and preserve families. Families belong together."

For almost 40 years, HFC has supported families in times of need so that kids can be kids, and so that parents can be successful. We are a dynamic and child-centered organization, governed by a diverse group of people who value volunteerism, service, and family connections. We are recruiting new Board members who share our values and support good governance. 

Duties and Responsibilities

• Representation and advocacy of Haven Family Connections' mission
• Active participation in strategic planning, committee work, and board evaluation efforts
• Engagement and support of fundraising initiatives
• Government relations
• Attendance at monthly Board meetings and community engagement events
• Development of policies and procedures in compliance with local laws and regulations
• Oversight and support of Haven Family Connections' Executive Director

Candidate Attributes

• Demonstrated practice in fostering relationships and professional environments that are respectful and inclusive of diverse peoples and communities
• Financial acumen and capacity to fulfill board fiduciary responsibilities
• Sector experience (either in an employment or volunteer capacity)
• Governance experience and/or training
• Competence in service areas specific to those we serve; Indigenous Peoples, 2SLGBTQIA People, People of all abilities, Newcomers, and parents of all backgrounds.
• Ability to meet expectations of a current Criminal Record Check, including the Vulnerable Sector Search 

In addition to the above noted attributes, the current Board of Directors would be complemented by persons with skills and experience in the practice of law, philanthropy, labour relations, and Indigenous community development.
