⛳🌵 Big thanks for a fantastic November 2025 Golf Tournament!

Thanks to the high demand and success of the June tournament in Colorado, we were excited to host a second 2025 Alltricity Scholarship Foundation Golf Tournament—this time in sunny Arizona… where it somehow still managed to rain! But a few showers didn’t stop us from enjoying a fantastic day on the course, and we’re grateful to everyone who came out and made it such a fun and memorable event.

Thanks to the enthusiasm and generosity of our golfers and sponsors, we raised $55,000 in revenue, continuing the momentum from June’s record-breaking tournament and further strengthening support for students pursuing careers across the utility industry. We truly appreciate everyone who teed off with us and helped make this second tournament such a success. With strong participation in both tournaments, we’re already looking forward to bringing a second tournament back in 2026!

Mark your calendars for the Summer 2026 Golf Tournament on Tuesday, June 23, 2026, at Arrowhead Golf Club in Littleton, CO, and stay tuned for more information on the Fall 2026 Golf Tournament, slated to take place in either Arizona or Texas.

Industry Information

Renewable energy developers looking to adapt their project pipelines to the post-One Big Beautiful Bill Act policy landscape plan to focus more on standalone storage and storage paired with wind and solar generation after 2030, according to a developer survey.
Administration opposition to wind and solar has gone against a global trend and has put many of the nation’s utilities in an awkward position. They know the incipient energy crisis facing the nation is not in fossil fuels, which are abundant, but in electricity, which is strained as demand has risen faster than the electric infrastructure—generating and transmission—can accommodate.

In a three-part decision, the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission approved the Southwest Power Pool’s proposal allowing power plant owners to expand their generating facilities by up to 20% under a temporary priority review process. SPP’s proposals are part of a push by U.S. grid operators to create pathways for bringing power supplies online more quickly to meet rising demand for electricity.
More people are falling behind on paying their bills to keep on the lights and heat their homes, according to a new analysis of consumer data—a warning sign for the U.S. economy. Past due balances to utility companies jumped 9.7% annually to $789 between the April-June periods of 2024 and 202. The increase has overlapped with a 12% jump in monthly energy bills during the same period.

The U.S. regulator has completed its final safety evaluation for TerraPower's application to build Kemmerer Power Station Unit 1 in Kemmerer, Wyoming, one month ahead of its already accelerated schedule. The NRC staff began its formal review of TerraPower's application in May 2024. It had originally set a target date of August 2026 to complete the review but earlier this year announced plans to accelerate the process, aiming to complete it by the end of this year.

Two new data centers in Silicon Valley have been built but can’t begin processing information: The equipment that would supply them with electricity isn’t available. It’s just one example of a crisis facing the U.S. power grid that can’t be solved simply by building more power lines, approving new power generation, or changing out grid software.

U.S. electricity customers experienced an average of 11 hours of power outages in 2024, nearly twice as many as the annual average across the previous decade, according to a new report from the Energy Information Administration. Hurricanes accounted for 80% of those lost hours, with most of last year’s outages resulting from major weather events like hurricanes Beryl, Helene, and Milton.

The Trump administration has renamed the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, now calling it the National Laboratory of the Rockies, marking an identity shift for the Colorado institution that has been a global leader in wind, solar, and other renewable energy research.
U.S. data center power demand could reach 106 GW in 2035, BloombergNEF said in one of the more aggressive load growth estimates to date. The U.S. had about 25 GW of operating data centers in 2024, Bloom Energy said earlier this year. The latest forecast is 36% higher than its previous prediction, released in April.
Nisus Corporation: Better Science for Better Poles.
Nisus Corp®
Nisus manufactures QNAP® Copper Naphthenate, the only heavy-duty pole protection without an EPA Danger label and with a proven track record backed by over 1000 years of cumulative field-test data. QNAP has cleaner handling characteristics, is not a sensitizer, and, because it is EPA-labelled for residential landscaping and boiler fuel at end of pole life, has more end-of-life disposal options. Best of all, it's made right here in the United States.

Xcel Energy and its subsidiary Southwestern Public Service Company, together with Transource Energy, LLC, have been awarded the Beckham County–Potter 345 kilovolt (kV) transmission project by the Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Board of Directors. This project is a key component of SPP’s 2024 Integrated Transmission Planning Assessment, designed to strengthen the regional grid and support growing electricity demand.

Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs today toured Tucson Electric Power’s largest local battery energy storage system, which supports energy resiliency in Arizona as TEP pursues its clean energy goals. Hobbs was joined by state and local elected officials at a ribbon-cutting ceremony and site tour of TEP’s Roadrunner Reserve I. The 200-megawatt (MW) battery energy storage system can power 42,000 homes for four hours.
Less than a year after elevating the city's clean energy future with the launch of its innovative Solar Standard Offer, Austin Energy is proud to showcase the initiative's first commercial project. Solar system owner Radial Power and contractor Axis Solar installed 812 warehouse rooftop solar panels, capable of generating nearly 660,000 kWh of solar power per year.

In a collaborative effort that marks a milestone for Nebraska’s and Oklahoma’s energy future, Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD), Omaha Public Power District (OPPD), Lincoln Electric System (LES), and Grand River Dam Authority (GRDA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to form the Great Plains New Nuclear Consortium. This consortium will explore the feasibility and development of deploying between 1,000 and 2,000 megawatts of new nuclear technology—including Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)—within Nebraska to serve the needs of the four utilities in the Southwest Power Pool market footprint.
This summer, Basin Electric began the process of transitioning back to rate oversight by the Rural Utilities Service (RUS) instead of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). “This decision is due to a variety of factors, including access to low-interest funding from RUS,” Jim Horan, Basin Electric’s senior vice president and general counsel, said. “This is especially important as Basin Electric seeks to meet our growing capital needs to facilitate our projected load growth.”

White Paper
A new floating droplet electricity generator is redefining how rain can be harvested as a clean power source by using water itself as both structural support and an electrode. This nature-integrated design dramatically reduces weight and cost compared to traditional solid-based generators while still producing high-voltage outputs from each falling drop. It remains stable in harsh natural conditions, scales to large functional devices, and has the potential to power sensors, off-grid electronics, and distributed energy systems on lakes and coastal waters.
A nationwide analysis has uncovered how sprawling fossil fuel infrastructure sits surprisingly close to millions of American homes. The research shows that 46.6 million people live within about a mile of wells, refineries, pipelines, storage sites, or transport facilities. Many of these locations release pollutants that may affect nearby communities, yet mid-supply-chain sites have rarely been studied. The findings reveal major gaps in understanding how this hidden network affects health.
