Support Scholarships and Donate to the RMEL Foundation Auction
Donation Deadline is September 16, 2022

As many of you are aware, the RMEL Foundation provides scholarships to deserving students pursuing careers in the electric energy industry. The annual RMEL Foundation Auction will be held during the 2022 Fall Convention on October 11 and is a primary resource for the 501c3 charity to support the funding and growing of those scholarships. We will use the same bidding app that we have used for the past couple of years. We will send more details to access that app before the auction. Over the past 22 years, more than 500 scholarships have been awarded totaling more than $1 million. Your support is needed to continue the Foundation's scholarship efforts. You are encouraged to donate an item to the auction and join the VIRTUAL auction to bid on donated items.

To achieve their decarbonization goals, many utilities and industrial companies are considering whether nuclear small modular reactors (SMRs) can fill a void in their energy mix. This presentation will take a look at the features and benefits of Generation III and Generation IV SMRs for both power generation and industrial heating. The presentation will also review what utilities and industrial companies are doing now to evaluate new nuclear options for their sites. Mark Gake, Global Nuclear Technology Portfolio Manager and Nuclear Projects Director, Black & Veatch, will share his expertise on this trending topic.

Last, but Not Least! Welcome to Our New Full-time Staff!

I am pleased to announce and welcome the addition of two full-time staff to the Association. Kathryn Hail, a former RMEL employee and recent contractor with a 12-year history with RMEL, has joined our staff in full-time status. We want to maximize Kathryn’s experience, knowledge and understanding of our Association by helping us build the Member Services component for our membership. Also, I would like to welcome Ciara Cole, who also joined us this July. Ciara brings to RMEL a strong 10-plus years of background in marketing and education. We are very excited to have these two quality professionals on staff to serve our membership. Please take an opportunity to welcome Kathryn and Ciara to the RMEL Family!

See You Soon!

We will continue to add more in-person events to the RMEL calendar, and we look forward to continuing RMEL’s traditions (since 1903) of education and networking for the electric energy industry!
