Risk Management Magazine (3/12/2026)
According to the 2026 Allianz Risk Barometer, cybersecurity threats and artificial intelligence are the top global concerns for organizations across industries. These topics are at the forefront of today’s headlines, and companies and executive-level leadership have understandably sharpened their focus on growth, control and risk management efforts in these areas.

Aon executives said insurance markets are repricing across marine, energy, aviation, property, political risk and cyber lines as the Iran conflict unfolds. Joe Peiser, CEO of Risk Capital for Aon, said the most significant near-term exposure for most organizations is not physical damage but sustained disruption to supply chains and coverage structures. Carrier Management (3/11/2026)
S&P Global Market Intelligence reported that the U.S. P/C industry’s combined ratio hit just under 93 in 2025 — the best in 19 years — driven by a benign hurricane season, favorable reserve development, and strong personal auto results. Analysts said the conditions that produced those gains are unlikely to repeat, with lagging premium growth, softening rates, and rising competition dimming prospects for 2026. Insurance Journal (3/11/2026)
The Justice Department issued a department-wide Corporate Enforcement and Voluntary Self-Disclosure Policy, the first uniform framework covering all U.S. attorney offices and divisions, excluding antitrust. Companies that self-report unknown violations, cooperate and remediate can receive a declination; those reporting known violations can receive fine reductions of 50% to 75%.

A Crawford & Company report predicts AI-driven straight-through processing will handle a growing share of low-complexity claims without human adjuster involvement in 2026. Other forecasts include more proactive industry response to natural catastrophes, new regulation driving cyber claims activity and continued pressure on captives as some companies return to the traditional market. Captive International (3/11/2026)
Panelists at the CICA conference said companies are increasingly moving property risks into captive structures to close coverage gaps in commercial policies and gain direct control over risk decisions. Speakers noted that while the property market is stabilizing, insurers have intensified underwriting scrutiny — and captives also deliver governance benefits by drawing senior leadership into risk discussions. Canadian Underwriter (3/13/2026)
A Nanos survey commissioned by Aviva found staged vehicle collisions are Canadians' top insurance fraud concern, with Aviva's own claims data showing a 400% increase in such incidents from 2024 to 2025. Ontario's Financial Services Regulatory Authority is launching a mandatory fraud reporting service this year and hopes to expand the initiative nationally. Nearly six in 10 respondents said fraud concerns them because it drives up their premiums. Strategic Risk (3/13/2026)
A Generali/UNDP report showcases parametric insurance as a fast-liquidity tool for risk managers, with case studies covering earthquake response in Mexico, storm surge in French Polynesia, wind production shortfalls in Vietnam and agricultural drought in Malawi.
