Each year CRA hosts a fundraising golf tournament for the benefit of its foundation, RSIF (Rental Services Industry Foundation), whose primary purpose is to provide college scholarships to young students interested in the rental industry. RSIF is a non-profit organization. This year will be the fourth tournament. The tournament continues to grow each year. Isn't it time for you to join in the fun and play? If you don't play, how about rewarding your golfing employees with a day of golf? You don't need to send a team of four golfers; we will pair singles up with other golfers. Equipment vendors and their distributors will display their equipment onsite and, of course, offer refreshments and snacks.

Peer Executive Groups (PEG) recently announced the winners of the 2018 Top Gun Award in advance of the fall PEG meeting schedule. This designation recognizes the rental store operators who receive the PEGPinnacle Award for Financial Excellence. This award is given to the top 20 percent of stores, based on two ranked financial indicators that are calculated from financial statements submitted by rental store operators. This is the first year that PEG has named the companies that comprise the top 20 percent. These companies will be recognized at the fall meetings, receive a recognition gift and given an opportunity to participate in a celebratory Top Gun event in January of 2019. Congratulations to all these businesses and to the CRA members on the list!

Amos Metz Rentals, a single location equipment rental company located in Woodland, CA, announced on August 30 that it has been sold. "Amos Metz has been in business since 1945 and is a staple in its marketplace. We are very pleased to have sold our business to Sacramento-based investors who know our business very well. We had several options after our long-time manager, Willie Truitt, retired and selling to this group was a natural fit for both parties," said Joe Metz, an owner of Amos Metz. "Willie, who owned a portion of the business, had a wonderful career in rental for over 40 years, and we appreciate all of his hard work and efforts," he added.

A job hazard analysis is an exercise in detective work. When conducting a job hazard analysis, you try to discover the following:
• What can go wrong?
• What are the consequences?
• How could it arise?
• What are other contributing factors?
• How likely is it that the hazard will occur?

California Governor Jerry Brown has signed legislation allowing car rental companies to use GPS surveillance on vehicles that have not been returned within 72 hours after the contract return date or extension of the return date. An article on www.autorentalnews.com, recently reported that now, rather than having to wait five days to report a vehicle stolen and seven days to locate the vehicle using GPS, AB2620, introduced by Bay Area Assemblymember Phil Ting in February, significantly reduces the time rental agencies have to wait before trying to reclaim stolen vehicles.
