COVID-19 – May Update

Thank you to all who take time to participate in our surveys. CRA uses the information we gather to better serve you. If you have an idea for a survey for CRA members, please send your request to CRA at Info@CalRental.org. This month, we asked members for an update on how COVID-19 has affected their businesses.

1. What type of Rental Business do you have?

Additional comments:
1. Gresham, Oregon: The weather has been great and with all the stay home workers been real busy, best March and April.
2. As of 5-1, Tool up 4 Party down 28.

7. Since the April survey, if you reduced your operating hours, have you:
Increased: 21% (5 responses)
Stayed the same: 33% (8 responses)

Additional comments:
1. “Stayed the same” and “Did not reduce operating hours” seem to be the same thing to me. We
started closing on Sundays (April only). Have since May 1st gone back to 7 days a week.
2. Going from 3pm to 5 on Saturdays.

8. How many employees have you brought back to work since the April survey?
1. Never laid any off, could use more.
2. All that we furloughed.
3. 0, bringing on 2 for the next 8 weeks for PPP.

10. How long do you believe the effects of COVID-19 will hurt your business?

1. Hasn’t hurt yet, just not renting out any tables or chairs.

15. SBA PPP comments:
1. Didn’t make the first round. Had apps in with 3 banks, 2 approvals with SBA numbers on the same day. Chose the bank that I do not have an account with that was recommended. Sent a cashiers check via Fed Ex. And the winner is First Choice Bank, Orange County, CA. #2: Bank of the West, and a distant 3rd: Wells Fargo.
2. Would love 50% payroll necessary instead of 75% so we could upgrade some equipment.
3. Have not received anything yet, signed on April 8, 2020.
4. Will probably need more in the next few months.
