Equipment and Truck Keys

Thank you to all who take time to participate in our surveys. CRA uses the information we gather to better serve you. If you have an idea for a survey for CRA members, please send your request to CRA at Info@CalRental.org. This month, we surveyed members about their equipment and truck keys.

1. What type of rental business do you have?
General Rental: 59% (17 responses)
Party Rental: 21% (6 responses)
Both: 21% (6 responses)

2. Do you pull keys when equipment or trucks are not in use?
Equipment keys:
Not at all: 86% (6 responses)
During the day: 70% (7 responses)
Night only: 62% (13 responses)
Other (please specify): 100% (1 response)
Truck keys:
Not at all: 29% (2 responses)
During the day: 90% (9 responses)
Night only: 100% (21 responses)
Other: 0% (0 responses)
1. Always.
2. Only on trucks or equipment blocking gates.

3. Do you have a night dropbox for keys?
Yes: 21% (6 responses)
No: 79% (23 responses)

4. When equipment is called off rent, what are customers told to do with the keys?
Take the key and return it to the rental center: 32% (8 responses)
Hide the key: 64% (16 responses)
Other (please specify): 32% (8 responses)
1. Leave key in unit if pick up is same day.
2. Using code start equipment (80%).
3. We have them hide the key if they feel the equipment is in a secure location. If it is not safe, we
make other arrangements.
4. Off rent when they return it.
5. Not applicable.
6. My customers don’t have keys.
7. Take and dispose of the key.
8. Depends on situation. For cheap keys we tell them to throw them away if they can’t bring them
back to us.

5. Additional comments
1. Our drivers remove the keys whenever the vehicle is parked.
2. We have no equipment keys!
