Rental Truck Thoughts...

This month, we asked members about rental trucks—do they rent them, and if so, what type of trucks do they rent, and what requirements do they ask for from renters? If you have additional ideas for surveys for CRA members, please email CRA at Info@CalRental.org.

1. What type of Rentals do you have?
General Tool: 73% (19 responses)
Party: 8% (2 responses)
Both General Tool and Party: 19% (5 responses)

2. Do you rent trucks?
Yes: 52% (14 responses)
No: 48% (13 responses)

3. What types of trucks do you rent or would you be interested in renting out?
Moving Truck: 31% (4 responses)
Dump Truck: 85% (11 responses)
Water Truck: 15% (2 responses)
Stake Truck: 77% (10 responses)
Pickup: 54% (7 responses)
Other (please specify): 15% (2 responses)
1. TMA, Traffic control, fire trucks.

4. Do you require proof of insurance?
Yes: 69% (9 responses)
No: 31% (4 responses)

5. What are your rental requirements?
COI: 15% (2 responses)

Valid Driver’s License: 85% (11 responses)

6. What type of driver’s license do you accept?
Class A: 8% (1 response)
Class C: 85% (11 responses)
Other: 8% (1 response)
Additional comments:
1. Accept all but only rent class C.
2. Class A required or 3 axle water and dump trucks.
3. Must have a credit card with rental in advance plus $500 deposit.

7. Would you like to see trucks at our future trade shows?
Yes: 81% (21 responses)
No: 19% (5 responses)

8. Which brands would you like to see?
Ford: 86% (18 responses)
RAM: 24% (5 responses)
Chevy/GMC: 38% (8 responses)
Toyota: 10% (2 responses)

9. Survey Ideas
1. Do you sell rental, i.e., propane, landscaping, rock, sand, c-mix?
2. Vacation policy survey, starting, tiers, separate PTO vs. vacation and sick.
3. Percent of volume spent on rent. Percent of volume spent on various classes of payroll.
4. Overall needs from your territory? Ideas for the meeting? Location within the territory? Suggestions for meetings with reagrds to dates, hours, products, etc.
