Calling all designers and artists, the APCO 2023 Conference T-Shirt Design Contest is now open! We're looking for an original design that incorporates the host city Nashville and/or the state of Tennessee, and the spirit of APCO International and emergency communications. Beginning in April, APCO is offering the updated version of the online course Fire Service Communications. The new 3rd Edition of this course advances fire communications training, improving service to the callers and increasing the safety of the field responders. New topics include the impact of NG9-1-1 on the telecommunicator role, electric vehicle fires, civil unrest and an expanded section on hazmat incidents. 

The course is open for registration for the following dates: 4/26 - 6/6 | 5/10 - 6/20 | 5/24 - 7/4 | 6/7 - 7/18

For those currently certified in FSC, 2nd Edition, two update courses are available at no cost to meet recertification requirements: FSC 3rd Edition, Update and FSC 3rd Edition, Instructor Update.

Yasmen Barnett has spent the last eight years in dispatch for the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office in Central Florida. Her career quickly progressed as she worked her way from call taker to supervisor in May 2020, while working every position in between for both law and fire disciplines. Yasmen accepted a position with RapidSOS as a district management associate for IAmResponding in August 2022. She still dispatches part-time, but realized she had a passion to help those behind the headset do their jobs to the best of their abilities.
