Durham Emergency Communications Center, North Carolina, has received APCO Agency Training Program Certification, a Project 33® Initiative. Public safety agencies use the APCO International Agency Training Program Certification as a formal mechanism to ensure their training programs meet APCO American National Standards (ANS). Initial and continuing training for public safety telecommunicators is important as they provide essential services to the public in an expanding and rapidly changing environment.

APCO has filed a Project Initiation with ANSI to revise and redesignate the standard titled APCO/NENA Standard for the Establishment of a Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement (QA/QI) Program for Emergency Communication Centers (ECCs). The revision of this standard provides uniformed methods to evaluate the delivery of service by emergency communications personnel to ensure high standards of performance.

Topics addressed include why emergency communications centers (ECC) are a target, how to protect your ECC, signs of an ongoing cyberattack, mitigation techniques and more.
