APCO is seeking writing group members to participate in the revision of the APCO ANS standard for Public Safety Communications Common Incident Types for Data Exchange.

The revision of this standard will ensure that it continues to provide PSAP managers with a standard list of incident type codes to facilitate effective incident exchange between Next Generation 9-1-1 PSAPs and other authorized agencies.

All interested persons should complete the online application and indicate their preference for this writing group.
 
Sheri Hokamp serves as the Communications Supervisor for the Biloxi Police Department in Mississippi. She began her career with the department in 1985 as a telecommunicator, and has served as the Department's Communications Supervisor and Terminal Agency Coordinator (TAC) since 1991. She served as a volunteer for the local community fire service for several years as a firefighter as well as a board member.

In addition to serving as an APCO Institute Adjunct Instructor, Sheri is an instructor for the Mississippi Board of Emergency Standards and Training (BETST). Sheri is an active member of APCO International and has participated as a chapter board member since 1991. She currently holds the position of President and Executive Council member for the APCO Mississippi chapter. Over the years, she has participated in a wide variety of training programs and activities, including first responder, emergency medical technician, emergency medical dispatch, NCIC TAC, police academy instructor, fire academy instructor, fire suppression, hazardous materials, rappelling, defensive driving, truck operations, air bank and critical stress debriefing, and many more. She is also a graduate of APCO’s Registered Public-Safety Leader and Certified Public-Safety Executive programs.

APCO International received final approval from the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) on July 3, 2018 for an American National Standard (ANS) that identifies current and future challenges that next generation technologies bring to PSAPs.

Bradley H. Veerman, 54, of New Lenox, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 6, 2018 at St. Alexius Medical Center, Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Brad was the Executive Director of Laraway 9-1-1 Communications Center, and Will County Forest Preserve Police Officer. Brad was an Illinois APCO member and an 11-year member of APCO International.
