APCO International welcomed the introduction of the Next Generation 9-1-1 Act in the U.S. House of Representatives to advance the nationwide transition to NG9-1-1. This legislation supports a transition to NG9-1-1 that will allow the public to send text messages, photos, videos and other advanced data directly to 9-1-1 and enable emergency communications centers to share this information with responders in the field. These improvements will enhance situational awareness, support more efficient resource deployment and improve coordination during emergencies.

The CCAM Excellence Award recognizes and celebrates outstanding contributions and achievements of an exceptional Chapter Commercial Advisory Member (CCAM). The award recipient will be recognized during APCO 2026 in San Antonio August 2-5.

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration's (NTIA) long-awaited release of the updated U.S. Frequency Allocation Table in September 2025 was nothing short of historic — especially since some in the industry started their careers after the last update and still managed to retire before this one appeared. After nearly 22 years of suspense, speculation and a few thousand “coming soon” jokes, the spectrum community can finally rest easy knowing the table has been refreshed, complete with footnotes that read like fine wine: aged, complex and best interpreted by specialists.
