On February 26, 2018, U.S. Representatives Eliot Engel (D - NY), Peter King (R – NY), and Lee Zeldin (R - NY) co-sponsored a bill, the "Don’t Break up the T-Band Act" (H.R. 5085), that would repeal current law requiring the Federal Communications Commission to auction public safety spectrum in the T-Band (470-512 MHz) by February 21, 2021, and clear public safety operations from that band within 2 years of auction close. Where the T-Band is available, public safety agencies depend on this spectrum to carry out day-to-day, mission-critical communications. APCO supports this bill because it is a common-sense measure that would preserve access to this needed spectrum resource.
