Italian Tissue Producer Sofidel to Enter U.S. Market with Acquisition of Cellynne

This past week, tissue producer Sofidel, Italy, agreed to acquire Cellynne Corp., Haines City, Fla. The agreement covers the shares of Cellynne Holdings Inc., with production facilities in Haines City, Green Bay, Wis., and Henderson, Nev. The agreement is curently going through the process of antitrust approval.

After the acquisition is finalized, Sofidel, currently the second largest tissue (paper for hygiene and domestic use) producer in Europe, will make its entry into the U.S. market. Established in 1966, Sofidel has 25 production units and 27 subsidiary companies in 12 European countries (Italy, Spain, Sweden, U.K., Belgium, France, Croatia, Germany, Poland, Romania, Greece, and Turkey), and more than 4,400 employees. With an aggregate turnover of EUR 1,456 million, Sofidel has a total tissue production capacity of more than 956,000 metric tpy. Its flagship brand, "Regina, is present in all major markets.

Cellynne Holdings Co. is a fully integrated paper manufacturer in North America, serving both the commercial (away-from-home) and the consumer (at-home) tissue markets. At its three manufacturing facilities, Cellynne Corp. produces a wide variety of tissue and towel products including jumbo roll tissue, paper towels, folded towels, kitchen roll towels, bath-room tissue, napkins, facial tissue, and dispensers.
