YDS&RC Makes Progress with Three Key Projects during Recent Meeting in Neenah

More than 100 people visited Miron Construction in Neenah, Wis., USA, on November 2, as they generously served as host for two TAPPI meetings—the Yankee Dryer Safety and Reliability Committee (YDS&RC) and the Lakes States TAPPI/North Central PIMA Energy Forum. The Lakes States program was sponsored by Focus on Energy and featured mill case studies on energy reduction. The YDS&RC is a global gathering of yankee dryer owner users and suppliers who meet together twice annually to develop tools to improve safety and reliability of these key tissue making assets.

Significant progress at the YDSRC meeting included:

In the first photo below, Robert Zeller of Thermal Coatings International gives a technical talk on spray metal coatings for yankee dryers. In the second photo, Neil Arafat of Enerquin gives a case history on a recent yankee hood upgrade that improved thermal efficiency and drying rate. The presentation was made to both the YDSRC and the Lakes States Energy Forum.

The YDSRC is tentatively planning its next meeting for Monday, March 19, 2012, in Miami, Fla., USA, just prior to Tissue World Americas.
