Graphic Packaging International (GPI), Marietta, Ga., USA, and Vacumet, Franklin, Va., have teamed up for a new product launch for Kimberly-Clark Corp., Dallas, Texas. The companies note that the new Kleenex® Cool Touch™ tissue is the only tissue that actively releases a cool sensation to soothe a sore nose on contact. The new facial tissues are available in stores now.

GPI and K-C evaluated laminated HoloPrism® paperboard for the requirements of printing, converting, and filling for Kleenex tissues. GPI and Vacumet worked hand-in-hand to provide K-C with a unique holographic brushed aluminum pattern that is tinted with a hint of a blue hue that conveys the benefit in these tissues. The HoloPrism holographic paper ran smoothly throughout the entire converting process from start to finish, Michael Dillon, national sales manager, GPI, reports, adding that it "was well known to our laminating facility in Tuscaloosa, Ala. From start- to-finish, this material was a good fit for our processes."

Steve Pinney, technical sales, GPI, added that "Kimberly- Clark wanted a package that would fit well with consumers' home décor while being visually striking on the shelf. This package fit the bill perfectly."

Kleenex Cool Touch tissues were introduced into the marketplace in early September 2011. Through May 2012 (or until samples are depleted), consumers can get a free sample through the Softness Worth Sharing Program.
