The Procter & Gamble Co., Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, reports that its Family Care business has officially opened its new Box Elder, Utah, Family Care plant, the first new plant P&G has built in the U.S. in 40 years. P&G says that Family Care's Charmin toilet paper is now rolling off the line, and through the new Distribution Center Bounty paper towels, Puffs facial tissues, and a number of other P&G products are being shipped to consumers and customers in the west, one of the fastest growing regions in the U.S.

"We are proud to celebrate the Grand Opening of our new Box Elder Family Care plant in Utah to enable us to better serve more consumers, more completely, across the U.S. and Canada," said Bob McDonald, P&G chairman, president, and CEO. "This is just one more way we are continuing to better serve consumers through outstanding innovation and value in both developing and developed markets."

Located on 750 acres and 75 minutes from Salt Lake City, the new Box Elder plant has more than 600,000 sq ft of manufacturing space, plus 400,000 sq ft for its on-site Distribution Center that opened last spring to ship a number of P&G products. P&G Family Care currently has five other manufacturing sites in the U.S., but until now, none in the Northwestern area of the U.S.
