Tissue manufacturing is an energy-intensive process, requiring innovative solutions to enhance wet pressing and drying performance while cutting energy usage. Pitkänen will introduce intelligent roll solutions designed to improve key aspects of tissue production, including press nip, moisture, and tension profiles, as well as reeling nip and parent roll hardness profiles, rewinder runnability, and end-product handling characteristics in converting. These tools offer significant cost reductions and energy savings by optimizing press nip-to-Yankee cylinder contact, minimizing moisture profile errors, and reducing reeling/winding broke under low nip load conditions.

Pitkänen’s presentation will showcase real-world applications of intelligent roll technology from wet end to converting, backed by practical case studies and data sets.
