Sofidel enters the CDP Leaderboard with the best companies in every sector worldwide. Supplier involvement is key to the Group’s green transition and climate change strategy.

Sofidel has been included in the Leadership band of the CDP Supplier Engagement Rating Report. The A rating achieved in 2022, up from the A- rating in 2021, has put Sofidel on the CDP Leaderboard with the best companies in every sector worldwide.

CDP is a nonprofit organization that supports investors, companies, cities, countries and regions worldwide in managing their environmental impact.

The CDP Supplier Engagement Rating Report measures the ability to engage suppliers in the fight against climate change by assessing performance through selected questions on governance, goals and Scope 3 emissions (including all the indirect emissions produced in a company’s value chain).

With an A rating, the best on the scale, Sofidel ranks above the Paper products & Packaging sector average (C-) and the overall European (C) and global average (C). Sofidel achieved the highest rating in the Supplier Engagement and Scope 3 emissions areas and was well above average in all others as well: Targets, Governance and Overall CDP Climate Change score.

“Supplier involvement is a key element of the green transition and climate change strategy. Inclusion in the Leaderboard of the CDP Supplier Engagement Rating Report 2022 is a valuable recognition of the work we are doing together with our suppliers. It is increasingly important to have transparent, reliable and shared reporting metrics,” commented Riccardo Balducci, Group Sustainability Director.

Sofidel is committed to reducing Scope 3 CO2 emissions per ton of paper by 24 percent from the 2018 base year by 2030.

Sofidel’s 2030 CO2 emission reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) as consistent with the reductions needed to limit global warming to well below 2°C under the Paris Agreement.

The group’s activities to promote collaboration with its suppliers also include the Sofidel Suppliers Sustainability Award (3SAward). The company gives this award to suppliers who stand out for social and environmental sustainability actions.

CDP is a nonprofit organization that globally supports investors, companies, cities, states and regions to manage their environmental impact, and provides environmental performance information to over 746 investors representing investments of over $136 trillion. The global economy looks to CDP as the reference standard for environmental reporting with the richest and most comprehensive data set on corporate and city action.
