Kemira, a global leader in sustainable chemical solutions for water intensive industries, improved its score in the Climate Change category from C to B in the CDP’s 2022 rankings and received a B score in Water Security category even if the reporting requirements were again increased. Kemira disclosed the Water Security data for the first time in 2021. Kemira aims to reach leadership level in CDP Water Security by 2025.

Sustainability is an integral part of Kemira’s strategy and a key growth driver for Kemira. In June 2022 Kemira set more ambitious target for significant reductions of its greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by the year 2030 in line with the Science Based Target initiative (SBTi) and committed to 50 percent cut in the emissions from own operations (scope 1 and scope 2 emissions) by 2030. This is in line with limiting global warming to 1.5°C. Kemira is also going to set a quantitative scope 3 target.

“We are proud that our efforts to continuously improve our sustainability performance across the board are recognized by the CDP. We also focus on continuously improving the sustainability performance throughout the whole value chain. Transparent disclosure is important for our own development and benchmarking but also for overall progress of a more sustainable world to which we and other companies contribute”, emphasized Kemira’s Director, Sustainability Rasmus Pinomaa.
