According to Fastmarkets RISI, China’s Taison Group has recently fired up a new 34,000 mtpy tissue machine at its mill in Jiujiang city, Jiangxi province.

Dubbed TM 11, the unit recently churned out its first jumbo roll.

Provided by domestic supplier Shandong Xinhe Paper Making Engineering, the TM has a width of 3.6 m and a design speed of 800 m/min. Its output is market wood pulp-furnished tissue with a basis weight range of 20-40 g/m², for conversion into hand towels. An identical TM is set to come on stream at the same site by the end of this month, boosting the mill’s total tissue capacity to around 468,000 mtpy.

The Jiujiang mill has seen a rapid expansion of its tissue capacity. The first four TMs, each with a capacity of 60,000 tonnes/yr, were commissioned at the site in 2018. The company started up eight 20,000 mtpy TMs there between December 2021 and January this year.
