Metsä Tissue, a part of Metsä Group, supports the local aid organizations in the flooded regions with monetary and material donations of toilet paper, household rolls and industrial wipes. Metsä Tissue is working closely with the local aid organisations, for example the German Red Cross (GRC) and Malteser Aid Service to provide help to the catastrophe area. Metsä Tissue also organises targeted help and support for its employees who were affected by the floods.

"We are deeply concerned by all the misfortunes that people in the immediate vicinity and the neighborhood of our mills had to experience and we want to help. Our thoughts are with all people, who were affected by the floods”, says Esa Kaikkonen, CEO of Metsä Tissue Corporation.

The two Metsä Tissue mills in Kreuzau and Düren are located in the crisis area at the river Rur, where controlled increased amounts of water are still being released from the Rur dam. The mills had to be temporarily shut down in July for a short period of time but now the production has been resumed.

Tobias Lüning, country manager, Metsä Tissue Germany continues “the good teamwork of our employees and the good cooperation with the local authorities helped a lot in overcoming the situation. The commitment of our employees has shown us that we can handle crisis situations together. We would like to thank our employees and our partners for their quick response and very responsible behavior."
