Fastmarkets RISI reports Indian company Century Textiles located has started trial runs on a new Valmet tissue machine.

Last year Century announced the tissue capacity at its sole mill in Nainatal, Uttarakband, would be doubled with the 36,000 tonne/yr TM. The unit was due to start last October, but the COVID-19 pandemic impacted the firm’s planning. Logistics, paper demand and local welfare were all hit over 2020, with dozens of staff infections reported.

Presently, however, the Century spokesperson confirmed both local and overseas demand is good, although a shortage of containers and high shipping costs are interfering with export sales.
