According to Fastmarkets RISI, Shanghai Orient Champion Healthcare Products is planning to build a 360,000 mtpy tissue mill in Maanshan city, Anhui province, China. The company signed an agreement with the local government for the RMB 5 billion ($763 million) earlier this month.

Formerly known as Shanghai Orient Champion Paper, the company currently runs eight tissue PMs with a combined capacity of 140,000 mtpy at a mill in Jinshan, Shanghai city. The latest expansion of the Jinshan mill was carried out in 2012, when the company commissioned a 40,000 mtpy tissue unit there.

The facility has been the only paper production site in Shanghai since Kimberly-Clark permanently closed its 24,000 mtpy tissue mill there in October last year.

IPO plan: Shanghai Orient Champion Healthcare Products is preparing for an initial public offering (IPO) on the Shanghai stock exchange. It has tapped Haitong Securities to offer regulation training about the securities markets to its directors and senior managers, which will take at least three months from March 12. It is not known how much money the company intends to raise via the possible IPO as the scheme is at a very preliminary stage.
