China’s Libang Group has kicked off trial production on a new 20,000-mtpy tissue machine at its new mill in Xiaogan city, Hubei province.

The group initially ordered a pair of 20,000-mtpy tissue machines, each with a trim width of 3.55 m and a design speed of 1,300 m/min, from domestic supplier Baotuo Paper Machinery in early 2019.

The order was later cancelled, and instead the group tapped the same supplier to provide the Xiaogan plant with four tissue units, each with a trim width of 2.85 m and a design speed of 1,500 m/min.

The TM that started last week is the first of the quartet. The second is expected to commence production by the end of this year.

The other two are scheduled to be commissioned next year. Most of the future output of the Xiaogan mill will be in the form of jumbo rolls.

The Libang Group also runs a tissue mill in Baoding city, Hebei province, via its subsidiary Baoding Gangxing Paper.

The Baoding plant currently boasts a total tissue paper capacity of approximately 150,000 mtpy.
