China’s Shandong Sun Paper Industry is planning 120,000 mtpy of tissue capacity at its greenfield pulp and paper complex in Beihai city, Guangxi autonomous region.

Market players reported that a European leading machinery supplier has been tapped to provide two 60,000-mtpy tissue machines, each having a trim width of 5.6 m and a design speed of 2,000 m/min.

Italian firm A.Celli has been signed up to provide three tissue rewinders for the facility.

So far, Sun Paper has received approval to build a total pulp and paper capacity of 3.5 million mtpy at the Beihai complex, including 150,000 mtpy of tissue.

The company is progressing rapidly with other parts of the scheme.

According to the environmental impact assessment report for the Beihai complex, the company initially planned to install two chemi-mechanical pulp lines with a combined capacity of 600,000 mtpy there.

But so far, a 600,000-mtpy bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp line and a 200,000-mtpy alkaline peroxide mechanical pulp line have been ordered for the site, and both are expected to start up before the end of 2021.

The company is also constructing an 800,000-mtpy bleached hardwood kraft pulp line, a 500,000-mtpy uncoated fine paper machine, and a coated ivory board unit with a capacity of more than 1 million mtpy.

All are scheduled to be fired up in 2021 as well.
