One of two TMs at Soundview Paper’s Marcal mill is making parent rolls after a devastating fire destroyed much of the 140,000-tpy mill’s offices and converting operations in late January, contacts said in late May. The restarted YM is running two to three days a week, making parent rolls of the 100 percent-recycled-paper Marcal brand at the mill in Elmwood Park, NJ.

A contact said that the mill had restored the infrastructure to restart the machines, including gas, electric, and water supply.

The mill makes bath and facial tissue, paper towels, and napkins. Marcal’s Elmwood Park operations include a manufacturing facility with fully integrated deinking, towel, tissue, napkin, and facial production and converting capabilities, as well as separate storage facilities for housing finished goods and parent rolls, according to the Soundview Paper website.
