Metsä Tissue to Renew its Management Team

Metsä Tissue Corporation, part of Metsä Group, will renew its management team. 

“Metsä Tissue will commence an operational review in order to improve internal efficiency, reduce complexity and focus on the tissue business. At the same time, Metsä Tissue’s Management Team will be renewed and a process based management model will be introduced,” says Esa Kaikkonen, CEO of Metsä Tissue Corporation. “The following appointments and changes will be made to support the efficient implementation of Metsä Tissue strategy and to accelerate the change.”

The management team has been appointed as follows:

Riikka Joukio has been appointed senior vice president, sales & marketing, consumer products. Until now, Joukio has worked as SVP, consumer Nordics and before that, SVP, sustainability and corporate affairs, Metsä Group. Joukio will also be responsible for sustainability at Metsä Tissue.

Jani Sillanpää has been appointed senior vice president, sales & marketing, away from home business unit. Sillanpää has until now been responsible for AfH sales.

Mariusz Jedrzejewski has been appointed senior vice president, supply chain. Jedrzejewski has until now been responsible for baking & cooking business unit.

Christoph Zeiler has been appointed senior vice president, business development. Zeiler has until now worked as SVP, consumer continental.

Metsä Tissue will unify its mill and technology operations, and a new position of senior vice president, operations, has been established in the management team. Jari Tiura has been appointed to this position as of February 1, 2019. Tiura joins Metsä Tissue from Stora Enso, where he has been working since 2015. Tiura has over 25 years of experience of operation management. He will report to Metsä Tissue’s CEO, Esa Kaikkonen.

Jukka Oinonen continues as SVP, HR. Juha Pilli-Sihvola continues as chief financial officer. All the above mentioned appointments and changes were valid as of December 13, 2018. All members of the Metsä Tissue management team report to CEO Esa Kaikkonen.
