China's Taison Group has kicked a new 60,000-metric tpy tissue machine into trial production at its mill in Jiujiang city, Jiangxi province. The machine churned out its first sheet of paper in late October.

Dubbed TM 8, the Voith-supplied unit has a trim width of 5.6 m and a design speed of 2,200 m/min.

It is the second of four identical tissue PMs the company has ordered for the plant. The first started up in June. The remaining two are planned to come on stream by the end of this year.

At that point the Jiujiang mill will boast 240,000 metric tpy of tissue capacity, furnished with bamboo and wood pulp.

The group is also building two 60,000-metric tpy Andritz-supplied tissue machines at a new mill in Suzhou city, Anhui province, with startups scheduled for next year.
